Netherlands vs Portugal predictions for the Women’s World Cup clash

Our expert has three betting tips ahead of Netherlands vs Portugal in Group E of the Women’s World Cup.

This is a huge match for these sides with both likely having to settle for 2nd in a group that includes the USWNT. The Netherlands were beaten finalists in 2019 so the draw gives them an opportunity for revenge. Portugal would have been hoping for an easier draw but the team have improved in recent years.

Netherlands vs Portugal Betting Tips

  • G/G – Goal/Goal (both teams to score) @ 8/11 Bet9ja
  • Portugal Handicap +1 (Home -1) @ 5/4 Bet9ja
  • Lineth Beerensteyn to score anytime @ 8/5 Bet9ja

Both teams to find the net

Our first prediction for Netherlands vs Portugal is both teams to find the back of the net in an entertaining clash.

The Netherlands earned a comprehensive 5-0 win over Belgium in their final match before the tournament. They have also put four goals past Poland and Austria in 2023. However, two defeats in their last five have left some cause for concern.

The bookmakers odds have the Dutch as the favourite and they have the quality in attack to hurt the Portuguese.

These sides met last summer in the women’s European Championships. The Dutch came out on top in a five-goal thriller that ended 3-2. They controlled possession but the Portuguese were able to create ample opportunities on the counter.

Portugal have failed to score in just one of their last 12 matches. That blank was against England; a team that many fancy to win this tournament.

Netherlands vs Portugal Bet 1: G/G – Goal/Goal (both teams to score) @ 8/11 Bet9ja

Portugal to be competitive

The second of our Women’s World Cup tips for this match is for Portugal to earn a draw.

Francisco Neto has overseen significant development within the Portuguese set up and his side have fared well against higher ranked opposition in recent times. This is a huge match for the Portuguese if they are to have aspirations of making it to the knockout stages so I expect it to be fiercely competitive.

Portugal showed incredible grit to cling onto a draw against England earlier this month but they will have to bare their teeth in attack should they fall behind in this one.

This bet has landed in 11 of Portugal’s last 12 matches. The only exception was the 2-1 defeat against Japan. Neto’s side led in that game but were unable to hold on.

Netherlands vs Portugal Bet 2: Portugal Handicap +1 (Home -1) @ 5/4 Bet9ja

Juventus forward to star for Oranje

The Netherlands will be without Vivianne Miedema for this tournament after she failed to recover from injury in time to feature. The Arsenal striker has been injured since December.

Despite the disappointment for one of their star players, the Dutch still have a wealth of options in attack.

Lineth Beerensteyn is a big goal threat for the Netherlands. She enjoys playing as part of a front two in Andreis Jonker’s favoured 3-5-2 formation. The striker has scored four goals in her last four appearances for the national team.

Beerensteyn has also been a threat at club level this season. She averaged 0.5 goals per game for Juventus as they finished 13 points behind Roma in the women’s top flight in Italy.
