Harmon, the former Law & Order star, shared that the devastating incident took place over the Easter weekend.

The 51-year-old actress and model, who lives in Charlotte, North Carolina, revealed the news via an Instagram post.
She said her dog Oliver was fatally shot by a driver who was making a grocery drop off at her family’s home.
“This Easter weekend a man delivering groceries for Instacart shot & killed our precious Oliver,” she said in her post.
“He got out of his car, delivered the food & THEN shot our dog.”
Harmon claimed in her post that the driver knew he was not being filmed at the time.
“Our ring camera was charging in the house, which he saw & then knew he wasn’t being recorded,” she said.
“The police let him go b/c he claimed “self defense”.”
Charlotte-Mecklenburg, North Carolina, police had confirmed some aspects of Harmon’s story to The U.S. Sun.
Cops shared that the Instacart driver told them that he was attacked by a dog when he arrived at Harmon’s home on Saturday morning.
The driver also told the police that one shot was fired in self-defense.
“No criminal charges have been filed in relation to this incident, and CMPD is not currently seeking any additional parties,” a statement from the police said.
“Another dog was present at the residence but did not attack,” cops added.
Harmon suggested this was not the case as there were supposedly no signs of attack on the driver.
“He did not have a scratch or bite on him nor were his pants torn,” she wrote.

The actress shared a heartbreaking message on Instagram following the death of her dog Oliver.

Harmon also posted several images and a video of her dog when he was alive.
Instacart told The U.S. Sun that it had suspended the driver and that it was working with the Harmon family and the police.
“We were deeply saddened and disturbed to hear about this incident,” the delivery company said.
“We have no tolerance for violence of any kind.”
Harmon reposted an Instagram story from one of her close people who shared how the family was feeling.
“To the man who took Ollie away from us: your actions are despicable and inexcusable,” the story said.
“You’ve not only robbed us of a beloved member of our family but you’ve also traumatized us beyond measure.
“The fact that someone could commit such a heartless act is beyond comprehension to me and I’m devastated that I didn’t get to say goodbye to him.”
Harmon also shared a screenshot of her Instacart delivery app from the tragic day.
The screenshot showed that a plastic bag was dropped off outside the front door at 11:51 pm on Saturday, March 30 by a driver named Merle.
The actress was famous for her three-year stint as Abigail Carmichael in Law & Order.
Harmon’s successful TV career also was spread across her time on Rizzoli & Isles and Baywatch Nights.
She also won the People’s Choice Award for Favourite Cable TV Actress in 2015.
The U.S. Sun has reached out to Instacart and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department for comment.
