Inside the last Chuck E. Cheese restaurant with original animatronics as chain announces major changes to outlets

CHUCK E. Cheese has announced a major change to its restaurants but one location will stick to its old ways. 

The children’s entertainment chain will remove animatronics from all of its locations but it will make one exception.

Its famous robot characters will remain at its Northridge, California branch for customers and fans, according to CW affiliate KTLA.

This store was able to keep its unique characters following a petition by the teen fan Logan Carreiro. 

Carreiro, now 14, started the petition when he was 12 and flew to California from Boston for a special event at the Northridge branch

“They’re just so fascinating the way they move around and talk to each other and dance, it’s crazy,” he said.

Chuck E. Cheese’s CEO, David McKillips, shared why he decided to keep this location traditional while all other stores were being renovated.

“We took a pause here,” McKillips told a crowd of superfans at the event.

“We wanted to keep one legacy location open and have our brand have a residence where you can come anytime you want.

“Every day, the band will be playing,” he added.

The Northridge location also had a makeover and the show area looked “brighter,” according to KTLA.

Chuck E. Cheese has over 400 locations across the US and 75% of them have removed their animatronics and been remodeled. 

The renovations at other locations will include new interactive dance floors and trampolines. 

McKillips shared the reason for the major change to his outlets.

“More than a billion people have come through the doors of Check E Cheese. 

“We’ve been phasing out the animatronics over the last couple of years because every generation has had their own Chuck E. Cheese,” said McKillips.
