The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that bye-elections will be held in two state constituencies – Ahoada East II and Khana II – of Rivers State.

According to a notice issued by the electoral body on Tuesday, the elections were scheduled for Saturday, February 21, 2026, with voting set to commence at 8:30 a.m. across all designated polling units in the affected constituencies.
INEC urged eligible voters in the two constituencies to turn out peacefully and exercise their civic responsibility, assuring that necessary arrangements would be put in place to ensure a free, fair, and credible process.
The commission also called on political parties, candidates, and their supporters to adhere strictly to electoral guidelines and the provisions of the Electoral Act, while security agencies have been urged to maintain law and order before, during, and after the polls.
