Samson Adamu, the new acting General Secretary of the Confederation of African Football, CAF, has said he is determined to make a make a mark as the chief operating officer of the game on the African continent.

Adamu’s appointment was ratified by the CAF’s executive committee in Cairo, Egypt on Sunday, 29 April, 2026.

The young football administrator replaces Democratic Republic of Congo’s Veron Mosengo-Omba.

He is the first Nigerian, nay West African, to mount the hottest seat in African football, in the 69-year history of the continent’s governing body for the game.

Adamu said he will serve with professionalism and humility.

“I am elated by this appointment. I am determined to serve African Football with humility, integrity, and professionalism,” Adamu told thenff.com.
