‘I’ll Confiscate Any Property That Hosts Turaki-led PDP Faction’ — Wike Warns Abuja Landlords

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has issued a stern warning to property owners in Abuja, threatening to take over any premises found accommodating what he described as a “fraudulent” faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by former minister of Special Duties, Tanimu Turaki, SAN.

Speaking during his monthly media chat in Abuja on Wednesday, Wike said he would not hesitate to enforce subsisting court rulings amid the deepening factional crisis rocking the opposition PDP.

“Any house that allows them, because it is fraudulent and against court judgement — any house that allows them — the whole of PDP have listened to me, I will take that house,” Wike declared.

The FCT minister, who has been at the centre of the PDP’s prolonged internal crisis, insisted that his actions would be guided strictly by the rule of law, warning FCT landlords against providing space for activities he claimed contravene subsisting court orders.

“Anybody who knows me knows I will do it. I will never allow them. I will seal it up — it is gone. I cannot allow you to pitch. You dare not, you cannot. I am here to maintain peace,” he said.

Wike framed his threat as an enforcement of judicial authority, stressing that compliance with court judgements was non-negotiable.

“It is the judgement of court — you must obey it. You cannot be aiding a criminal. You dare not say you will take me to court when I do it,” he added.

He further argued that the alleged illegality of the Turaki-led faction’s activities was already in the public domain, dismissing any defence based on ignorance.

“It is in the eyes of the public. You cannot say you are not aware. Ignorance of the law is not an excuse,” Wike stated.

The warning comes amid escalating tensions within the PDP, which has been grappling with parallel leadership claims, legal disputes, and competing factions struggling for the control of the party’s structure ahead of the 2027 general election.
