A comedian and content creator, Ben Kperekpo, aka Funnychef, has said that his love for food actually inspired his stage name.
In a statement sent to Saturday Beats, he said, “I coined ‘Funnychef’ as a stage name because of my love for food.”
Recalling the challenges he had in the early days of his career, including not being able to afford a camera, he said, “As an entertainer, if one does not have money to invest in the business, one would fall off while others would still be moving.
“Nothing substantial happened (in my career) until my friends and I came up with the idea of having our own team and calling it ‘Sirbalo Comedy’. We actually started shooting skits with Blackberry phones.”
Funnychef also stated that his initial ambition was to become a legal practitioner. He said, “My dream was to become a legal practitioner, so that I could advocate for the masses, and fight against ill treatment of people.
“However, I am still advocating for that through some of the contents I create. Making skits changed my life, and I am so happy to be living my dream. It has given me money and recognition.”
