Popular Nigerian singer Tems has opened up about her past experience in a toxic relationship, revealing how her partner’s behaviour negatively affected her.
Speaking during a candid interview with media personality Angie Martinez, the Essence crooner described the relationship as one where her partner was “obsessive and possessive.”

According to Tems, the experience conflicted with her personal beliefs about love and relationships, as she emphasized that a healthy relationship should be built on partnership rather than control or ownership.
She also noted that toxic relationships can be particularly draining, adding that in many cases, the person exhibiting toxic behaviour may not even be aware of it.
Her words …
“I have experienced love where I thought it was love but it was more like when someone is trying to own you. They think that they own you. And that’s not love.

“They say they love you but they don’t know that they don’t even love you. Because you can’t love someone you feel you own..”
