The Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps, Dauda Biu, has condoled with the families of victims of the crash along the Onitsha-Awka Expressway, Anambra State, on Friday.
The PUNCH reports that the fatal crash occurred on Friday morning, involving a Mitsubishi L300 commercial Bus with vehicle registration number XE 245 AWK and a DAF Leyland Truck with registration number T-19094 LA at the Odumodu Junction by Nteje.
Five persons were reported to have lost their lives in the road accident.
In a statement signed by the Corps Spokesperson, Bisi Kazeem on Friday, the Corps Marshal also called on commercial vehicle operators, to exercise caution and be conscious of their environments whenever they drive, and also to avoid driving against stipulated speed limit on all roads.
According to Kazeem, the advise is to “To eradicate all incidences of road mishap arising from impatience and lack of mental alertness when on wheels.”
Biu also commended FRSC operatives for their prompt response to the distressing situation which led to immediate evacuation of the victims of the crash to Divine Care Hospital Umunya and Chira Hospital for medical attention, and the clearance of obstruction to ensure free flow of traffic within the axis.
