FedEx sent me $20k worth of lottery scratch-offs but I’d never be able to cash winning ticket so I did the right thing

A WOMAN had a difficult decision to make after receiving $20,000 work of lottery scratch cards that she could never win on.

Danielle Alexandrov from Massachusetts was working at her office in Cape Cod when she found a huge FedEx delivery.

She explained how she thought it was a “joke” once she opened up the box.

“I open it up and it’s a box of scratch tickets,” the 37-year-old told local news outlet WCVB.

“And I’m thinking, ‘Is this a joke?’ until I look at the receipt and its value is $20,000 worth of scratch tickets.”

FedEx had accidentally delivered the order for Kenyon’s Market, a nearby liquor and lottery store to Alexandrov’s office.

When faced with $20,000 worth of scratch cards, the stunned worker was torn over what to do.

“I played the tape through my mind,” she said.

“What would happen if I kept these? Would I be able to sleep at night?

“Those kinds of things – and I was like, ‘No, the right thing to do is to go return it.”

Despite her moral dilemma, Alexandrov would have been unable to cash any winnings anyway as the box was not delivered and authorized by a licensed lottery retailer.

Christian Teja, an employee of the Massachusetts Lottery explained to the news outlet that it would be pointless to try and dupe the system.

“If someone tried to take one of these tickets if it was a winning ticket, brought it to a retail location, there would be a message that would flag it and they’d be unable to cash the ticket.”

This year the Massachusetts Lottery launched its first ever $50 scratch ticket – the most expensive in its history.

In August, an unnamed person claimed the first ever $25 million prize on the Billion Dollar Extravaganza game.

The winner took home the one-time payment of just over $16 million which they plan to invest and buy real estate.
