The Commissioner of Police in Zamfara State, Muhammad Dalijan, has presented cheques of 50,145,119.83 to the 27 next of kins of the officers who died while serving the country.
In a statement issued by the state police public relations officer, Yazid Abubakar, the commissioner of police who presented cheques on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, said the cheques were part of the IGP initiative under the group personal accident and IGP family welfare insurance schemes of the Force to assist the families of officers who pay the supreme price.
While thanking Mr Egbetokun for the kind gesture, Mr Dalijan appealed to the beneficiaries to make good use of the money and take care of their families.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Yahaya Umar, thanked the inspector general of police and the state commissioner for the support, ensuring that the money given to them will be spent judiciously.
