Los Angeles police responded to Latt’s home where he was found with multiple gunshot wounds.

He later died at a nearby hospital.

Jameelah Elena Michl, 36, was arrested on Latt’s steps shortly after the shooting.

Michl was unhoused and living in her car near Latt’s house, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

She allegedly broke into Latt’s home where he lived with his girlfriend shortly before the reported 6 pm shooting, cops said.

Officials said Michl did not attempt to leave the scene following the shooting.

Michl remains in custody on $3 million bail, according to the LAPD.

She has been charged with murder and burglary with a firearm enhancement.

In addition to his work at Netflix and as a consultant for various film studios, Latt was involved in the nonprofit and advocacy worlds.

He founded the social impact group Lead with Love in 2019.

Latt also served as the communications director and political adviser for Imagine Justice – founded by Oscar-winner Common – from 2016 to 2021.

‘HIS WORK WAS ESSENTIAL’

Latt has been remembered publicly by many, including his mother, Michelle Satter.

Satter is also steeped in the entertainment industry, having founded the Sundance Institute Directors and Screenwriters Lab in 1981.

“Our beloved son Michael Latt fell victim to a tragic act of violence this week,” Satter wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

“Michael devoted his career to supporting artists, championing organizations that raised up artists of color, & leveraged storytelling for enduring change. We celebrate his legacy, love & compassion.

Dozens responded to Satter’s post offering their condolences.

“Michelle – my condolences for you and your family. This is such a senseless, horrible act,” one person wrote.

“Speechless. However sorry for this tragic loss on your life. Sending prayers and condolences for your heart and your family,” another wrote.

“My condolences on the loss of Matt, his work was essential,” someone else chimed in.

Another person said: “He was the absolute best of us. I don’t have the words to express my sorrow for your and for everyone’s – literally everyone’s – incomprehensible loss. I doubt anyone does.”
