Europa League: Amorim speaks on Dorgu telling ref not to award Man Utd penalty

Manchester United manager, Ruben Amorim, has praised Patrick Dorgu who asked the referee not to award a penalty to his team.

United booked their place in the quarter-final of the Europa League on Thursday with a 4-1 win on the night and 5-2 on aggregate.

Bruno Fernandes netted a hat-trick, with two of those goals coming from the penalty spot with four penalties given by French referee Benoit Bastien – three for United and one for the visitors.

Dorgu took the unusual step of telling the officials not to give United a third penalty in the second half.

It did seem United were about to benefit from a third spot-kick but the decision was overruled.

“It is the right thing to do so I am quite proud of him,” Amorim said.

“But I cannot say if it is 0-0 or losing I have the same response.”
