Edo Cabinet Shake-up: Okpebholo Redeploys Commissioners, Appoins New Chief Of Staff

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has approved minor changes to his cabinet as part of efforts to strengthen governance, improve efficiency and enhance service delivery in the state.

The reshuffle, which affects three key positions in the state executive council, takes effect from January 30, 2026.

Announcing the development in a statement on Thursday, the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ikhilor, said the cabinet adjustments were aimed at repositioning the administration for better coordination and policy implementation.

According to the statement, Vincent Osas Uwadiae has been redeployed from the Ministry of Oil and Gas Resources to the Ministry of Lands and Housing, where he will now serve as Commissioner.

Naija News reports that the statement further disclosed that Yakubu Oshiorenua Musa, who previously served as Commissioner for Lands and Housing, has been appointed as the new Chief of Staff to the Governor.

Musa replaces Gani Audu, who has been nominated as Commissioner for Oil and Gas Resources.

Audu’s appointment as Commissioner for Oil and Gas Resources is subject to confirmation by the Edo State House of Assembly, in line with constitutional requirements.

Governor Okpebholo, according to the statement, expressed confidence that the minor cabinet reshuffle would enhance coordination within the government and accelerate the implementation of policies and programmes across the state.

The governor said the adjustments were designed to deploy experience where it is most needed, while ensuring greater efficiency in the running of the state’s affairs.

The changes officially take effect on January 30, 2026.
