Christian Coleman yet again matched the world-leading time of 9.83sec and beat Noah Lyles in the men’s 100m at the Diamond League finals in Oregon on Saturday.
After not winning any medals at the World Championships in Budapest in August, Coleman ran 9.83 for the second time in two weeks. Only three men, including Britain’s Zharnel Hughes and Lyles, have achieved that time this year.
Lyles, the gold medalist in the 100m and 200m in Budapest, finished second with a time of 9.85sec. Ferdinand Omanyala from Kenya also finished third with the same time. A false start saw Ackeem Blake of Jamaica disqualified.
Coleman took off with a solid start and maintained his momentum throughout, holding off Lyles and Omanyala in the race.
