Breaking News: President Tinubu Embarks on State Visit to Türkiye to Forge Deeper Ties in Security, Energy, Aviation, Trade

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will leave Abuja tomorrow, Monday, January 26, for a high-profile state visit to the Republic of Türkiye, aimed at significantly strengthening bilateral relations and unlocking new frontiers of cooperation between the two nations.

The visit comes as a reciprocal gesture following Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s official trip to Nigeria in October 2021 and seeks to build on the already cordial partnership by expanding collaboration across critical sectors including security, education, social development, innovation, and aviation.

During the stay in Türkiye, President Tinubu and his counterpart will lead strategic political and diplomatic discussions focused on shared priorities in finance, communication, trade, and investment.

The engagements are expected to culminate in the signing of several memoranda of understanding covering scientific research, energy, technical cooperation, media and communications, military cooperation, protocol arrangements, and other mutually beneficial areas.

A dedicated business forum will also take place, convening investors and business leaders from both countries to identify and pursue promising opportunities in trade and joint ventures, further boosting economic linkages.

The Nigerian delegation accompanying the President reflects the comprehensive nature of the agenda and includes the Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, Attorney General and Minister of Justice Prince Lateef Fagbemi SAN, Minister of Defence General Christopher Musa (rtd), Chairman of the House Committee on Defence Hon. Jimi Benson, Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development Hajiya Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim, Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Minister of Culture and Creative Economy Hannatu Musawa, National Security Adviser Malam Nuhu Ribadu, and Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed.

This state visit underscores President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda to position Nigeria as a proactive player in global diplomacy, particularly through strategic partnerships that enhance national security, drive technological advancement, support energy security, and stimulate sustainable economic growth.
