Borno kidnappers, robbers nabbed

The Borno State Police Command has arrested six notorious kidnappers and armed robbers terrorising the Magumeri and Konduga Local Government Areas of the state.

In a statement on Saturday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Nahum Daso, said the command recovered about N2,637,000 from the suspects, who have also been extorting villagers as tax collectors.

The police said the suspects confessed to the crime and would be charged to court after a discreet investigation.

The statement reads, “On October 25, 2024, following a credible tip-off, the Command Crack Squad coordinated a covert operation in Chingowa Village, Konduga LGA, and arrested the following suspects: Modu Bindimi, 26 years; Koso Modu Gana, 24 years; Kassim Bulama, 27 years; Isah Muhammed, 21 years; Zarami Fantami, 22 years; and Modu Bunu, 24 years, in possession of one pump-action gun, one live cartridge, and N2,637,000 cash.”

According to the statement, investigation revealed that the syndicate is responsible for armed robbery and kidnapping in Magumeri and Konduga LGAs, as well as extorting money from villagers, purportedly as a tax to spare them from their criminal operations.

“The suspects have confessed to the crime and will be charged to court after a discreet investigation,” the statement added.
