Ajax defender, Calvin Bassey is edging closer to complete his switch away from the Dutch Eredivisie giants after he was dropped from their training tour to Germany.
The Nigerian is set to undergo medical with English Premier League side Fulham this week after expressing interest in joining Marco Silva’s side.
Meanwhile, Fulham were also reportedly going to make a choice between Bassey and Southampton’s Mohammed Salisu as they hope to add a player to their backline.
According to Italian transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano, the Cottagers have the two African players in mind for the left-sided centre-back role, even though talks with Ajax over the moves of Bassey are in advanced stages.
Sky Sports reported that Fulham are close to finalising deals for both players with Salisu’s deal thought to be worth more than £15m while Bassey is priced at £18m
The deals for both players are as a result of the uncertainty over Nigeria defender Tosin Adarabioyo’s future at the club as Fulham hope to cash-in on him before his contract expires at the end of next season.
Talks over a contract extension for Adarabioyo have broken down, and Tottenham Hotspur have recently asked for more information about the 25-year-old, so he could be on his way to north London this summer.
