“We keep rewarding bad behaviour” – Media critic Daniel Regha slams Ooni of Ife for hosting and honouring Baba Ijesha

Popular social media critic and internet personality Daniel Regha has slammed the Ooni of Ife for entertaining the disgraced actor, Baba Ijesha, and his wife.

Kemi Filani reported that the couple had visited the Monarch, who honoured them with a royal welcome and fatherly love. The Ooni blessed them with luxurious gifts, a brand-new car and a chieftaincy title. According to Baba Ijesha, he was bestowed with the title, “Baba Awada Konge Oduwa, Ile Ife, Ile Oodua”.

On his Twitter page, Regha expressed disappointment in the monarch for hosting and honouring him with gifts and a chieftaincy title.

Daniel said this is what is wrong with society, as we love rewarding bad behaviour.

“The Ooni of Ife hosting and honouring someone like Baba Ijesha with a chieftaincy title plus gifts despite being a convicted pedophīle, is exactly what is wrong with society today. We keep rewarding bad behaviour”.

Refreshing your memory, in 2021, Princess, accused Ijesha of defiling her 14-year-old ward without consent.

Nollywood stars Iyabo Ojo and Yomi Fabiyi fought over the issue, with the former supporting Princess’s side of the story. At the same time, the latter took a stand in support of his colleague.

In 2022, he had bagged 5 years imprisonment for raping the minor.

On Friday, November 15th, 2025, the famous actor was released from prison, after spending over three years in custody.

Announcing his release, actor Yomi Fabiyi shared on Instagram that he had been cleared by the Appeal Court. He stated that Ijesha wasn’t just back, but was better, and expressed his happiness that he had been cleared.

Speaking out, Baba Ijesha, in an interview with Biola, had addressed his rape allegations, maintaining that he isn’t a pedophile nor a rapist. He said Princess knows she has betrayed everyone she has ever been friends with, and expressed how hurt he was by how Iyabo Ojo turned on him. He noted that he had taken care of her kids when they were younger, yet she doubted him.

Following his release, the actor shocked many on June 15th when he announced that he is now married and had welcomed a child with celebrity designer, Luminee. He said that God had written his story and had given him more than he prayed for – a wife and now a baby boy.

Amid the backlash, Luminee had shared before-and-after photos of herself with Ijesha. She said that privacy is peace to her, and that it was the right time for them to fly together.
