He is not a police officer- Delta police PRO reacts to trenidng video of security agent confiscating phone of a commuter

The spokesperson of the Delta state police command, DSP Bright Edafe, has reacted to a trending video showing the moment a man confornted a police officer with the Delta state polie command’s ‘operation sweep’ for witholding the phone of a commuter in Delta state,

 The footage, recorded by an eyewitness, shows the commuter trailing the officer, demanding the return of his device. Read here

‘’This is stealing, This is oppression, Give him his phone, officer! This is how you k!lled an innocent civilian few days ago. This is how you want to k!ll us” the eyewitness said

The reason behind the officer’s decision to withhold the man’s phone remains unclear. .

The video received several backlash from Nigerians.

Reacting via his X handle, Edafe stated that the security agent in question is not a police officer but a member of the Operation Delta Sweep.

Operation Delta Sweep is a rebranded, joint security task force in Delta State, Nigeria, launched by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to combat kidnaping, cultism, and armed robbery. It is funded by the Delta State Security Trust Fund (DSSTF). Formerly known as Operation Delta Hawk, it was rebranded to signify a renewed, aggressive push to rid the state of criminal elements and protect citizens.
