The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed claims surrounding a purported 103rd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting and the alleged constitution of a caretaker committee, describing them as invalid and misleading.
In a statement issued on May 4, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, said no such NEC meeting was convened by the recognised leadership of the party. He stressed that any resolutions or announcements arising from the gathering are “null, void, and of no effect.”
The statement specifically faulted a group led by Adolphus Wabara and Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, accusing them of acting outside the provisions of the party’s constitution.

According to the PDP, it is contradictory for individuals who previously opposed the idea of a caretaker committee to now claim to have constituted one, describing the move as lacking credibility and driven by self-interest.

It further questioned the involvement of Wabara, claiming he had been expelled at ward level over alleged anti-party activities, including support for Alex Otti. The party added that the Board of Trustees (BoT), which Wabara chairs, is an advisory body without executive authority.
The PDP also expressed concern over the role of some legal practitioners in the development, urging relevant regulatory bodies to review their conduct.
Describing the episode as an attempt to mislead the public and create confusion within its ranks, the party called on members and stakeholders to disregard the outcomes of the gathering.
It reaffirmed its commitment to constitutional order and democratic principles under the leadership of Abdulrahman Mohammad and Samuel N. Anyanwu.
