Katsina United captain Usman Barau has declared that his side is targeting victory against Bendel Insurance as they look to avenge their earlier defeat in the Nigeria Premier Football League on Sunday, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Barau told NPFL.com.ng that the team travelled to Benin City determined to secure a positive result, having lost the reverse fixture one-nil in December 2025.
On that occasion, the Benin Arsenals claimed all three points after Elmer Arunta came off the bench to score the decisive goal.
Reflecting on that defeat, Barau said the squad are motivated to respond strongly this time around.
“We are in Benin to make sure we get a good result and possibly win,” he said.
“Remember when we played them at our home, they got all three points, and now we have the chance to do better.”
The midfielder revealed that both players and officials held discussions before the trip, emphasising the importance of the encounter as the season approaches its closing stages.
According to him, the team remains confident in its ability to deliver, regardless of the challenge posed by their hosts.

“We have a good team that can win anywhere. The team met and spoke about how important this match is, and we want to make our fans and club proud,” Barau added.
“We can pull off a win because this season has been unpredictable and anyone can win anywhere.”
“Katsina United is ready for this match and our target is to revenge that defeat earlier in the season.”
Barau is also set to reach a personal milestone, as he is in line to make his 30th league appearance of the campaign when Katsina United face Bendel Insurance.
With both sides aiming for a strong finish in the closing weeks of the NPFL season, the fixture in Benin City presents an opportunity for Katsina United to settle scores and boost their position on the table.
