The Kebbi State Government has dissolved the governing council of Abdullahi Fodio University of Science and Technology, Aliero, and removed its Vice-Chancellor and other principal officers following the report of a visitation panel.
The decision was announced in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Yakubu Bala-Tafida, on Thursday, after the State Executive Council approved the panel’s recommendations.
“On the recommendation of the Visitation Panel constituted by the Kebbi State Government, the State Executive Council has approved the dissolution of the Governing Council of Abdullahi Fodio University of Science and Technology, Aliero,” the statement read.
According to the statement, the Vice-Chancellor, two Deputy Vice-Chancellors, Registrar and Bursar were relieved of their appointments.
It added that the appointment of one Abba Muhammad Adua was also terminated.
To manage the university pending fresh appointments, the government appointed Prof. Samaila Arzika Mungadi as Sole Administrator.
Bala-Tafida said the administrator had been tasked with stabilising governance and restoring academic integrity in the institution until a new governing council is constituted.

He added that the reconstituted council would oversee the appointment of new principal officers for the university.
“The Sole Administrator is saddled with restoring academic integrity pending the reconstitution of a new governing council that would usher in the appointment of new principal officers of the university,” the statement added.
The government said the decision takes immediate effect from April 30, 2026, and commended members of the visitation panel for their work.
