Deji Adeyanju: Nigerians Are Not Asking For 24-Hour Power, Just Reliable Electricity

Popular Nigerian activist and lawyer Deji Adeyanju has weighed in on the nation’s electricity crisis, arguing that most Nigerians are not asking for a round-the-clock power supply.

Speaking on ‘The Honest Bunch’ podcast, the legal practitioner maintained that citizens’ expectations from the government are far from excessive, stressing that what many people truly want is steady electricity during the most important hours of the day.

Adeyanju noted that Nigerians are not making impossible demands, insisting that they are among the easiest people to satisfy when it comes to basic amenities.

According to him, most households want electricity in the evening, after returning from work, and early in the morning, before heading out.

“Nigerians don’t even want 24 hours of light. Can they even afford 24 hours of light? Nigerians just want to come home at 8pm and meet light so they won’t sweat when they sleep, and also meet the light by 7am so they can iron their clothes, and then you can take the light and divert it to where factories are,” the activist lamented.

He also added that Nigerians are not asking for much, and they are the easiest people to please. This should not be an issue for the government, he pointed out.
