Besides, the lawmaker has pledged to construct and donate a befitting registry complex to the UNIUYO as part of efforts to boost the institution’s administrative efficiency.
Rt. Hon. Idem, disclosed this at the weekend, while chairing the University’s 6th Distinguished Annual Registry Lecture held at the 1,000 – TETFund Auditorium, at the Nwaniba, Uyo, main campus of the Institution.
He explained that the intervention followed a motion he presented on the floor of the House of Representatives, urging the Federal Government to release take-off grants to the University of Uyo and other federal universities yet to benefit from such facility.
“As a follow-up to the motion, I will engage the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) to fast-track the release of the take-off grant. This will provide the financial backbone needed for infrastructure expansion and improved service delivery,” he assured.
According to him, the proposed registry complex would significantly enhance administrative processes, record management, and overall institutional efficiency.
Speaking on the theme of the lecture entitled: “Leadership for Change: The Way Forward for University and Societal Transformation,” Idem stressed the importance of visionary leadership in driving institutional growth and national development.
