‘He Is Desperately Looking For ADC VP Ticket’ – Wike’s Aide Blasts Makinde

The Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the FCT Minister, Lere Olayinka, has accused Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, of allegedly pursuing a vice-presidential ambition and making statements capable of inciting violence.

Olayinka, who is an aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, claimed that Makinde was “desperately looking” for a vice-presidential ticket.

He alleged that the governor’s actions were driven by his loss of influence within the Peoples Democratic Party.

Describing Makinde as “partyless,” Olayinka accused the governor of attempting to revive political tensions reminiscent of the South-West’s “Operation Wet e” era.

“I just hope he knows the gravity of inciting violence, even as a sitting governor,” he wrote in a post on 𝕏.

The aide further accused Makinde of failing in several political efforts within and outside the PDP.

“He failed to secure the total control of the PDP so as to use the party for its juvenile vice presidential ambition,” Olayinka said.

He also alleged that the governor failed in moves relating to the Olubadan stool and intra-party contests in Oyo State.

Olayinka accused Makinde of failing to account for funds reportedly received to compensate victims of the 2024 Bodija explosion.

“He has refused to account for the ₦30bn he collected from the Federal Government… he even said he was going to return the money… but up till now, he hasn’t,” he alleged.

According to Olayinka, Makinde is now seeking political relevance outside the PDP.

“Now, he is threatening violence just because he has lost out in the PDP and he is desperately looking for the ADC vice presidential ticket,” he added.

Olayinka questioned whether political actors would involve their families in any potential unrest.

“But will he put his own children forward to lead the violence?” he asked.
