The Acting National Publicity Secretary of the Nafiu Bala-led African Democratic Congress (ADC), Bashiru Abdul Mohammed (BAM), has dismissed circulating images suggesting empty halls at the party’s purported velodrome national convention, describing them as “unfounded, baseless and the handiwork of mischief makers.”

Speaking with journalists on Tuesday evening, Mohammed reiterated the party’s commitment to the rule of law, stressing that the ADC under its legitimate leadership of Hon Nafiu Bala Gombe would not act in violation of court orders.
“We have regard for the rule of law, constitutionalism and the courts. We are not deviants nor constitutional rascals like the factional group led by David Mark, who have flagrantly disobeyed court directives,” he said.
He explained that the party would not proceed with any national convention until the expiration of a subsisting status quo ante bellum order issued by the court in ongoing leadership disputes, with hearings scheduled for the 23rd and 27th respectively.
“Until the court order lapses and the pending cases are determined, no elective convention will be conducted. If we act the same way by disobeying court orders, then there will be no difference between us and them,” he added.

Mohammed further clarified that the party’s recognised national chairman, Bala Gombe, has neither issued any directive nor approved the conduct of a national convention pending the resolution of the legal tussle.
He accused the Mark-led faction of spreading false information and acting in contempt of court, urging party faithful and the general public to disregard what he described as misleading claims.
The ADC spokesman assured that official notices for conventions and congresses would only be issued after the courts deliver rulings on the pending cases, insisting that due process would be strictly followed.
