The National Movement for the Sustainability of Democracy in Nigeria has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting what it described as peaceful and credible area council elections in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The group also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his developmental strides, stating that his administration is steadily working to position Nigeria among the world’s leading developing nations.
In a statement issued to journalists yesterday in Abuja by its National Coordinator, Godwin Agama, the group affirmed that democracy remains firmly rooted in Nigeria and warned that any attempt to undermine it would be strongly resisted. It described democracy as “the government of the people, for the people, and by the people.”

According to the statement, the movement comprises men, women, and youths from diverse backgrounds across Nigeria’s 36 states, the FCT, and the 774 local government areas, stressing that it possesses both the structure and resolve to resist individuals or groups seeking to destabilize the democratic system.
“We commend President Bola Tinubu for upholding democracy in Nigeria. We also commend the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the ongoing ward congresses across the 36 states. We pledge our loyalty to the President and the APC,” the statement read.

The group further urged Nigerians to rally behind President Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda, expressing confidence in his administration’s capacity to revitalize the economy and strengthen Nigeria’s standing in the global community.
It reiterated its commitment to sustaining democratic governance in the country, emphasizing that collective support for democratic institutions remains key to national stability and progress.
